Grant Proposal Review & Fundability Assessment for Nonprofits
A proposal can read well and still be ineligible, under-evidenced or too risky to fund. Understand the weaknesses before the donor makes the decision.
Africads reviews EOIs, concept notes, full proposals and supporting documents against the actual funding opportunity. We prioritise eligibility, programme logic, evidence, budgets, delivery capacity and compliance—not cosmetic editing alone.
For nonprofit leadership, grant teams, churches and consortia preparing a time-sensitive application or deciding whether an opportunity is worth pursuing.
Why polished proposals still get rejected
Clarity matters, but funders also test feasibility. A sound review should uncover material problems while there is still time and authority to resolve them.
A disqualifying requirement is overlooked
Geography, registration status, co-financing, partner eligibility, attachments or submission rules may be non-negotiable.
The evidence does not support the narrative
Beneficiary figures, baseline claims, outcomes, staffing assumptions and organisational track record must be traceable to evidence.
The documents disagree
Budgets, work plans, indicators and proposal text sometimes tell different stories about the same project.
A donor-style review grounded in your actual application
We tailor our support to your organisation’s priorities, available evidence and practical needs.
Opportunity fit and bid/no-bid review
Check applicant and project eligibility, donor priorities, realistic deadline, likely competition, award-size fit and the opportunity cost of applying.
Technical programme and evidence assessment
Test the problem statement, target population, intervention logic, theory of change, safeguarding, feasibility and credible results.
Budget and financial consistency review
Compare figures across the budget, narrative, staffing, procurement, cost assumptions, co-financing and sustainability plan.
Logframe and MEL quality review
Check outputs, outcomes, indicators, baselines, targets, measurement responsibilities and evidence sources against the proposal.
Institutional and partnership risk review
Examine governance, delivery roles, organisational capacity, consortium arrangements, financial absorption and material compliance gaps.
Final submission quality gate
Review required annexes, approvals, document versions, donor formatting and unresolved critical weaknesses before submission.
A clear process, from evidence to action
We start with what your team already has. Every step should have a defined output, accountable owner and next decision.
Start with the donor requirements
Review the call, rules, evaluation criteria and existing documents; request only missing decision-critical evidence.
Screen the fatal gates
Identify eligibility failures, missing mandatory annexes, incompatible partners or deadline barriers before spending time on detailed scoring.
Review and reconcile
Challenge technical logic, financial numbers, evidence and cross-document consistency. Score only when the evidence is sufficient.
Prioritise corrections
Provide a critical/high/medium issue matrix, accountable actions and a reasoned readiness recommendation.

Frequently asked questions
Can you review a proposal without writing a new one?
Yes. This is a standalone service for organisations that already have a draft and need independent challenge, compliance checks and a practical correction plan.
What documents should we provide first?
Usually the donor’s call and guidelines, draft proposal, budget, logframe or results framework, work plan and key institutional or partner evidence. We check what is already available before requesting more.
Can you assess whether we should apply before the proposal exists?
Yes. An opportunity fit or bid/no-bid assessment can flag hard eligibility limits, strategic mismatch and unrealistic preparation requirements earlier.
Will we receive a score?
Where sufficient evidence is available, we can provide a reasoned assessment. If material information is missing, we first identify the gaps and the actions needed to complete the review.
Can Africads help correct the problems found?
Yes. After the review, we can discuss targeted support to improve the proposal, budget or supporting evidence. Your organisation remains responsible for final approval.
