Working for non-profit organizations is often associated with challenges.
Not enough time, not enough people, not enough budget.
The Google Grant program was launched a few years ago to introduce non-profit organizations to the world of paid search advertising. More so, it provides your church or NGO with at least $10k/month in free Google ads.
Yes, you read that right.
If you work for a registered NGO or church in Kenya and you do not have access to the Google Grant, we recommend you give us a call today.
How do I apply for the $10,000 per Month Google Ads Grant?
Follow the easy steps below to get started if you’re located in Kenya.
- Register here: TechSoup is the organization that gives nonprofit organizations access to freebies and discounts from a number of vendors (Google, Microsoft, and many more)
- Once you’ve registered with TechSoup, you’ll receive a “validation token”
- You can now go to Google for Nonprofits and create an account
- Once you’ve created Google for Nonprofits account, you will have the opportunity to apply for a number of Google services. At this point, you will be prompted to enter your login validation token to verify your nonprofit status
- As part of this process, you need to create a basic Google Ads campaign with an ad group and relevant keywords.
- Submit your Ad Grants application to Google for approval. Google will usually review and approve your application fairly quickly, but you’ll have to wait 24 to 72 hours.
- Once you are approved, you’ll receive an email from Google that looks something like this:
- After following the steps above, you’ll be ready to launch your first campaign. This process takes time and if done right can land you with at least 5,000 extra users on your website each month.

Google Ad Grants Limitations
The Ad Grants program is an amazing way to reach more potential supporters, donors, and volunteers worldwide.
But it comes with limitations. Let’s check them out:
-
The maximum cost per click is $2
This makes it difficult to get traffic for more competitive search terms that are likely to cost more than $2 to reach the top position.
-
Google Search only
You can only view your ads on the Google search page, not on the Google Search Partners network (these are third-party site owners who have installed the Google search bar on their site).
-
No access to the display network
You cannot place banner or text ads through the Google Display Network (GDN), which includes both display prospecting and remarketing.
-
You get $329 per day (equivalent to $10,000 per month)
The $10k monthly budget is split into a daily budget of about $329 per day. If you fail to spend the daily budget, it won’t be carried over to the next day.
Who is eligible for Ad Grants?
To qualify for the $10,000 per month in Kenya, you need to be a registered organization.
